Special SAB Meeting Tomorrow, Saturday, January 22

January 21, 2011—St Louis—There will be a rare opportunity for most readers to attend an SAB meeting tommorow, Saturday, January 22 at 1 p.m.  The Thursday January 20 meeting was cancelled due to weather conditions.  They postponed the meeting until tomorrow.  It will be held in its usual setting at 801 N 11th Street in room 108.  Parking is available in the lot to the north of the building.

Dr. Adams will present his plan for the 2011-12 school year.  According to reports in the St. Louis aerican andthe Post-Dispatch, he will propose to expand choice options for SLPS students by providing single gender schools and an African focused curriculum school. Open enrollment for the 4 comprehensive high schools, Beaumont, Roosevelt, Sumner and Vashon will enhance choice.  It was also reported that Dr. Adams intends to expand the proliferation of charter schools. He plans to ask the SAB to sponsor charter schools in the district and to sell or lease vacant district school buildings to charter schools.

Time is allotted for public comments at meetings.  A sign up sheet is placed on the speaker’s rostrum at the front of the right hand side of the room.  People wishing to make comments, which are limited to three meinutes, must sign the sheet before the start of the meeting at 1 p.m.

There will also be a report on the progress of dispensing Prop S funds.

The next regularly scheduled SAB meeting will be February 3 at 6 p.m.
